Top 10 Best Video Game Amnesiacs of All Time!

Night Mode

In real life, amnesia is a serious condition that is often caused by brain damage, disease, or psychological trauma. In fiction, it’s a device that gives writers more flexibility over story progression and character development. Amnesiacs can change their personalities at the drop of a hat depending on what aspects of their past they are able to recall at any given point. This often lays the groundwork for setting up shocking plot twists that might be deemed unbelievable in other situations. Amnesia is an especially effective plot device in video games and makes it easier to empathize with characters. In a sense, it creates a situation where there is no disconnect between what the player knows about a character and what a character knows about themselves.

Examples: Goku, Jason Bourne, Forgetful Jones
