This list looks at the 100 greatest quotes in gaming history! This project was a fool’s errand, to be certain. Games differ drastically from one another with respect to their themes and overall tone, so we’re forced to compare apples and oranges. Some of the quotes on this list are amusing while others are profound, but they’re all effective in their own ways. There are no hard rules for this list, but memorability plays an important role. The best quotes are usually the ones that stick with you. Keep in mind that the very nature of this list favors quick soundbites and concise monologues over lengthy conversations or back-and-forth banter. As such, some of the industry’s best-written games might not be represented on this countdown.
